Dr. Hans Neiper writes "During our preliminary work on electrolyte carriers based on aspartic acid, Dr. Franz Kohler and I considered the possibility that orotic acid might be an appropriate carrier molecule. It was already known that orotic acid penetrates very easily into the cell and, as an aromatic substance, its salts possess high chemical-complexing power. We found that the orotates pass through the cell's doublelayered outer membrane and are decomposed for utilization only by the inner components of the cell, such as the mitochondria."
"Dr. Franz Kohler and I found that magnesium orotate reduces serum cholesterol levels more efficiently than any other substance we had used previously. This marked effect was observed even when this orotate was administered at relatively small dose levels of 200 to 600 mg per day. Magnesium orotate prevents hardening of the arteries, restoring the cells of the arteries even more successfully than calcium aspartate. We also found that magnesium orotate prevents kidney failure from chronic hypertension (high blood pressure) and diabetes. Finally, in combination with zinc aspartate, this substance helps stop the replication of viruses.
Zinc Aspartate
I have found zinc aspartate, in combination with magnesium orotate, to be extremely useful in the treatment of the small, non-Hodgkin's lymphomas (Burkitt's lymphomas) caused by the Epstein-Barr and cytomegalo viruses. Zinc aspartate and magnesium orotate are very effective in arresting the replication of viruses and also in inhibiting the activity of the enzyme thymadine kinase, which may explain their ability to combat the lymphomas. Following the surgical removal of a lymphoma, the immunological complement Oc in the patient's blood serum must be maintained above a minimum threshold level to avoid tumor recurrence. Together, zinc aspartate and magnesium orotate are very effective in accomplishing this.
